This is part of living in a modern world where everything you create online sticks around. Luckily I do not feel I have (much) to fear from my words in the virtual world. I move forward with my own life and welcome others to do so with theirs.
So, some news. I'm celebrating 14 years with my partner Psyche, I am enjoying being part of an extended polycule. A lot of the things I wrote a long time ago about what I wanted have either been attained or crossed off the list.
My take on AI is this: it can be useful, but the product of your AI use needs to be fair and not rip off other artists. However in the realm of "personal use" - i.e. for my own personal use without trying to sell anything, I do use midjourney for art creation. I do not believe there is yet an ethical AI tool for image generation, one that I would want to use for a finished professional work.
So I keep paying artists for covers and interior art when I do publish a book. The books I have published are here: https://samchuppmedia.com
I have been not so incredibly productive of late because my last book (Foreword: Mercenaries) didn't attain any traction. The book previous that, "The Book of the Kiss," has sold pretty well in a long term kind of way. That was and still is my proudest effort since Encryptopedia came out.
I have also been writing ero-romance novels under a pen name - if you're interested let me know and I'll share the name with you.
I feel gratitude for the work I have and the people I work with. I feel gratitude towards my friends and chosen family. I am over the moon that my offspring Rowan is getting married to a wonderful person, who seems to fit their personality perfectly. (You can tell there is a pronoun shift there. They've never come out and ask me to use they/them, but I notice their friends and people who love them use the pronoun, so I'm using it for them now. I still slip up but correct myself.
The election: I loathe the outcome. I applaud the process. Now we start our long watch. Lets hope things get better in 4 years.
Other than that....not much to tell. I'm still playing TTRPGs, still playing lots of computer games, still enjoying cooking and baking, still a fan of snuggling kitties and people.
